Shariah & Tariqah

Posted by Abd Al Mustafa on Friday 24th April, 2009

Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi Radi Allahu `anhu, was asked about some people who were proud of the fact that by following command of Shariah they had become “Joined” (Wasil) and they did not need Shariah any more, then he replied “They are telling the truth they have become Wasil (Joined) but unto What? unto Hell.”

He added:

“The thieves and adulterers are better than the people of such faith. If I live for a thousand years I shall neither reduce any obligation and Wajibats (expedients) nor shall I without any excuse of Shariah reduce the number of Nawafil (supplementary prayers) and Musta-habat (preferable religious acts) which I have fixed for myself. So, for the people all other ways except the way of the Holy Prophet sall Allahu `alayhi wa sallam, are closed…..read on

Hadith of Adam tawassul through the Prophet (saw)

Posted by Abd Al Mustafa on Friday 29th August, 2008

The prophet (saw) said: “When Adam committed the sin (mistake) he made, he raised his head toward the Throne and said: ‘I am asking You by the right of Muhammad (saw) to forgive me.’ Allah Most High revealed to him:

‘What is Muhammad? Who is Muhammad?’

He replied: ‘Glorified be Your Name! When You created me I raised my head toward Your Throne and saw there was written on it: LA ILAHA ILLALLAH MUHAMMADUN RASULULLAH. I knew that there was no one more magnificent in Your sight than him whose name You placed next to Your Name.

Allah Most High revealed to him: ‘O Adam, truly He is the last of the Prophets from your seed and his Community are the last of all Communities from your seed. Were it not for him, O Adam, I would not have created you.’”    read full here.

“Were It Not For You (O’ Muhammad صلي الله عليه و سلم), I Would Not Have Created Creation.”

Posted by Abd Al Mustafa on Friday 29th August, 2008

since creation was created for the benefit of humanity, and since humanity was created to know and worship Allah, and since perfection of this knowledge, worship and servitude was made manifest in the Prophet, peace be upon him, it can rightly be said that he is the ultimate purpose for creation being brought into existence. This, then, is the classical appreciation of the law låka tradition, despite recent protestations to the contrary. O Allah, shower abundant blessings of peace upon our master, Muhammad; the paragon of human perfection, the best of all creation. more…….

Grand Mawlid with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf

Posted by Abd Al Mustafa on Monday 7th April, 2008

The best mawlid gathering i have been to in many years, and i have been to many mawlids throughout the UK and some at non-uk locations too but after a long time it actually felt like i was at a mawlid, praising the beloved (saw) and thinking about him (saw), hearing about him and praying for him (saw). It was a spiritual treat, i actually felt something in my heart. O’ Allah show me your beloved (saw) and our beloved (saw) in my dreams, i have gained an urge to see him (saw) so vast that it is unexplainable. Ya Allah! Ya RasulAllah!

I love the mawlid al-barzanji, i had never gone throught the whole of it before. truly, it is amazing and most of all beautiful! you can get it from here.

Rabi’ul Awwal Mubarak

Posted by Abd Al Mustafa on Friday 14th March, 2008

I intended to write a few words in relation to and in commemoration of 10031-001-09-1078.gifthe Holy Mawlid An-Nabi..sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, but then i stumbled across this & this and decided not to go into much detail as it has already been published by many, and it would be better to direct readers to those blogs rather than to write another.

When the month of Ramadan comes, we see in muslims throughout the world a change in their normal behaviour. They put on their topees, stop shaving for the month, attend taraweeh congregations etc which they wouldn’t do normally and won’t be doing after the Eid and sisters covering up, not applying much make up etc. But we do not hear any molvi’s or ORTHODOXed muslims restricting those people from taking part in the Ibadah of Ramadhan. We do not here scholars saying “you should be behaving in this manner all year round and not just in ramadhan, therefore don’t do it now or it’s pointless if you’re only going to do it during ramadhan and forget all about it after the month is over“.

No, we do not hear them say that! but when the month of Rabi’ul Awwal arrives you hear opposers of the mawlid make statements like “we should express our happiness and love for our prophet (s.a.w) all throughout the year, every minute every hour and every second of our lives”. This is not love they say, how can it be when they don’t do this at any other time of the year blah, blah, blah!!

From my personal experience i have seen sunni muslims hold mawlid gatherings all year round, i do not know many sunni masjids where a mukhtasar mawlid is not held after the Jumma Congregation, and in the month of rabiul awwal these blessed gatherings are a bit increased.

However, let us stop and think! and ask ourselves, are we following the examples set out by our beloved master (s.a.w), are we carrying out his orders, and are we following his advice..?? (the prophet (saw) said: seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave) by gaining knowledge can we then answer those questions to ourselves and know how to mend our ways.

Let us take our actions (whether it be in increasing our piety, trying to increase our love for the holy prophet s.a.w. or whether it be in praising the beloved Al-Habibullah s.a.w.) beyond the month of Rabiul Awwal and into the next month and the next. Inshallah.1bb61c38ef_thumb.gif

Al-Mawlid is practiced in different ways in different places with different intentions. My understanding is that it should be a practice of praising the beloved sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Some can argue and ask what the benefits of such acts can be? My reply to such people would be that they have just found a reason to seek out whether there is any benefit in simply praising the prophet s.a.w. or not?

So lets make this a month to maximise the praise of the holy prophet s.a.w. the sweet and beautiful madani, in the manner he should be praised and in the way he deserves to be praised. In the best possible manner with the utmost love & respect.

Lets not make this month a time for just birthday celebrations, but a time to commemorate, honour and praise him, our beloved (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and his blessed and miraculous birth. And remind them of the days of Allah (Al-Quran). The days of Allah are Allah’s blessings and signs, and the prophet’s birth is a great bliss (Ruh Al-ma’ani).

Actually, celebrating the prophet’s birthday means celebrating the birth of Islam…….Qardawi.

Sending salawats on the prophet (saw) is already enjoined in the quran, praising the prophet (saw) is also an established tradition we have inherited from the time of the prophet (saw) himself, so no one can consider it a bid’ah or an innovation in the religion….read on here.

The opposers of mawlid will be busy this month holding lectures on the INJUSTICES FACED BY THE PALESTINIANS and what the ummah’s duties are in such times or how the west has re-initiated the crusade against Islam. may allah guide them to all that is good. ameen.

I leave you with this beautiful poem (by brother aftab malik), which i am seriously in love with.  O’ sweet and beautiful Madani
